Found: the intelligent personal portable speakerphone of choice for the hybrid workforce.
Demand for easy-to-use, portable personal speakerphones for videoconferencing and voice calls from anywhere has surged in the last 12 months, as many cities all around the world introduced various safe-distancing measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Even after the lockdowns are lifted, most organizations expect a hybrid of office-cum-remote work patterns. Deloitte projected that up to 47.8 million people across ASEAN could permanently shift to working remotely post-pandemic.
Organizations in Asia Pacific that are used to 9-to-5 working arrangements are now finding remote work to be a viable part of their long-term operational model, and not just a stopgap measure to tide them through the pandemic.
A key to effective remote working is the quality of audio communication as co-workers collaborate, meet virtually, and engage with clients digitally.
That’s why many organizations have invested – or are investing – in quality personal speakerphones for effective hybrid or remote work environments.
One of the latest family of such devices, the Poly Sync Family is a new line of smart, USB and Bluetooth speakerphones that uses proprietary microphone technology to ensure users are heard – be it from home, office or anywhere in between.
Designed to enable the mobile workforce, the Poly Sync 20 offers flexibility with its USB and Bluetooth connectivity options, as well as clear audio quality with its intelligence microphones, which can easily detect voices throughout the room to enable crisp audio quality for both work and entertainment.
Having tried out the Poly Sync 20 personally, I find this personal portable speakerphone caters to the needs of our growing hybrid workforce no matter where we work from, flexibly delivering an enterprise-grade experience that enhances communication, collaboration and productivity for every work style.
With best-in-class audio and a three-microphone array, the Poly Sync 20 is a remarkable three-in-one device – it’s a personal speakerphone, a portable music speaker and a smartphone charger rolled into one compact device.
Apart from its audio clarity, the Poly Sync 20 is also certified for Microsoft Teams and is among the first to receive Zoom’s Personal USB Speakerphone certification.
Its compact, sleek design and carrying case make it ideal for users on the go.
The version of the Poly Sync 20 I tried out was the Microsoft Teams version, which incorporates a dedicated Teams button so the Teams app can be launched with a tap. This makes it a great addition to Poly’s broad portfolio of Teams-enabled headsets and devices, especially for users familiar with collaborating via Microsoft Teams.
Using it with my Microsoft Surface Pro was a simple matter of plug-and-play. It took 4 hours for a full charge, and the battery can last up to 20 hours wirelessly. Once charged and connected via USB, however, it continues to draw power from my Surface Pro. I didn’t have to worry about the Poly Sync 20 running out of power – even while using it simultaneously to charge my smartphone!
Advanced digital signal processing algorithms ensure both sides of the call can be heard clearly, even when talking simultaneously, and a programmable button allows me to personalize the Poly Sync 20 with my favorite functions like music pause/play or voice assistant – all with a single touch.
Built-in intelligence in the device reduces noise and cancels out echo. Its steerable microphone picks up my voice from 2 meters away without much loss of clarity or volume, even when speaking while walking about within the pickup range!
For seamless voice integration, users can connect the speakerphone to their Siri or Google voice assistants and literally tick off the items on their to-do list without lifting a finger.
I would recommend downloading the Poly Hub app onto all devices to be used with the Poly Sync 20, so you can seamlessly run it on MacOS, Android and Windows devices. It takes seconds to pair the device to a smartphone via Bluetooth.
The Poly Sync 20+ includes an additional BT600 USB adapter – or dongle – for seamless Bluetooth connectivity options.
Part of the extended Poly Sync Family, the Poly Sync 40 and Sync 60 – designed for huddle rooms and conference rooms – will also be available in the later part of 2021.
